An online community and resource site for freelancers & work-at-home folks

How do you keep up your reputation as a freelancer?

Think about this situation:
You are working on your client’s project and you make a mistake. What do you do? Should you turn in the completed work and hope that your client does not catch the error? Should you ignore it and pretend nothing has happened?

The best thing to do is to own up to your actions! Contact your client and admit you made a mistake and that you caught it. This tells the client that you can be trusted and that you stand not only behind your word, but also your work. Hence, you may have gained a client for life. If the client gets mad and you lose him, don’t fret over it. At least, you still have your integrity!

Sounds like a “cliche”, but the old proverb still persists: “Honesty is the best policy!”
