My Personal Review On Money Making Book:The Richest Man In Babylon
If you are like me and have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, you will know how hard it is to make time during the day to read everything you want to. I am also an entrepreneur, so want to know every new way of making money. Driving to me is a waste of valuable time. So I decided to consolidate this time by getting an audio book to listen to as I drove.
I read the reviews of several money making audio books before settling for The Richest Man in Babylon. I only paid $4.95 for this, and quite frankly it was a complete waste of money.
I wasn’t impressed with the voice used, the old English tongue would quickly irritate many people, and there was only 4 hours of listening time in total.
If you are young and keen to learn the basic principals of money making, then this book will appeal to you. If you have been in the game a while like me, you will find the whole experience somewhat underwhelming. There are stories to decode, and the odd hidden meaning, but the main principals are made blatantly obvious.
As opposed to just one story, The Richest Man in Babylon is a compilation of tales which run concurrently. The stories are simple to grasp but the characters get confused.
The principal is the basic one which we all know by now; divide your income into three and spend as follows; 10% on sound investments, 20% on clearing debts and 70% on living expenses.
Other wise teachings are that you should never accept financial advice from those who aren’t experts, and don’t become a heavy gambler…I kid you not!
Those 4 hours basically concentrated on common sense and wisdom that you shouldn’t need to be told. No wonder I felt alienated from it.
Overall, I learned nothing new from this book, which was the whole point of the exercise. I was hoping from some new and cutting edge information that I could really get my teeth into, instead I only had what I already knew repeated several times over. A wholly disappointing experience, and one I hope I won’t be repeating anytime soon.
This author also often shares knowledge regarding things such as Francis Francis espresso and Capresso espresso machine.
