Want to run a blog and earn some extra money online? While this is possible (millions of others are doing it as you read this) you shouldn’t expect it to happen overnight, or without a concerted effort on your part.

If just starting out, I would suggest getting your feet wet with a Blogger blog. They are free, very easy to set-up and run, and being owned by Google are easy to monetize as well.

The very best way (I think) to make money online is by setting up a hosted WordPress.org blog. It’s widely felt that a hosted blog gets more “respect” from the search engines (you want the search engines to like your blog!!) If you feel you can’t afford the $10.00 it costs for hosting than a Blogger blog or any of the other free platforms is the way to go.

Hosted or free you will need to create content for your new blog. The easiest way to create this content is to blog about a subject you know well, or are even an expert in. This will limit the amount of research you have to do (very time consuming!) and make your content creation flow quickly and smoothly.

You also should keep in mind right from the start how you will monetize your blog. Get into your visitors heads and figure out what they want or need, then your job (as an Internet Marketer) is to supply that want or need (for a price of course!) This is how you will turn your little blog into a money making machine!

There are more than a few ways to make money online, but I feel running a successful blog to be one of the best. Why? Because it gets you writing a lot of content (which you need to get good at) and gets your name out there (as an expert in your niche hopefully!)

Try to choose a niche you’re passionate about, you’ll find like-minded individuals who share your passion and will become regular visitors to your blog, a community! You build trust and a reputation as the expert, the go-to-guy. Then you will find supplying those products your visitors want or need to be much easier, and your conversions can soar!

Try to enjoy your time online, don’t get obsessive about it, just keep plugging away at it and in time success will come. Think about starting several blogs in different niches, so all your eggs are not in one basket. Who knows this could very well be the start of something big!
